So, I'm not exactly what you would call..."active". I really don't like to sweat. I really don't like to engage in sports. I really am not terribly coordinated. In fact, when I was a kid, my mom had to MAKE me go outside to play. So I would go...and take a book to read. It's been 30 years and I'm just not that into physical activity. One of my physical therapist friends calls me a "sit and be still kind of girl". And she's so right.
Because of my love for all things sedentary and not-sweaty...I am blessed with a super slow metabolism and a bit of a weight problem. Oh, don't get me wrong...I can maintain a weight with the best of them. But, lose weight...forget it. And because I don't ever really lose weight, I have even less motivation to exercise. Just how it is.
This January 1, though, I decided to make a change. A resolution, I suppose, although I don't put much stock in those things. I just decided to make a change. I've started working out. On the Wii. And...I love it. Yes, miss Sit-and-be-still has actually started to like exercising. A little bit.
One of the biggest reasons is this:
Jackson LOVES to do the Wii fit. He has his own Mii character and almost always puts in a few exercises after I've finished working out. This particular day, he was running with me. He doesn't have balance board of his own, so he used the laundry basket. Kind of resourceful, I thought.
If I don't lose any weight, so be it. If I stay this same size forever, that's okay too. But, if I've engrained good and healthy habits into my kids' minds, then I've succeeded and I'd say I get a "Good Job, Mom!"
