- What not to say to a new widdow, especially one that's pregnant. (I've got some doozies for this one)!
- What to do to help when a person says "No, I'm fine, really"
- Things that no longer seem important after your husband dies.
- Things every single mom should know, (and people who aren't single moms need to realize about us)
- How to properly park a car (Has nothing to do with losing my husband, but still a huge pet peeve of mine, and therefore, made the lists-to-be-made list).
and other such things...
Right now, though, I'm composing a list of things that I'm very happy to pay others to do for me or that I'm willing to pay extra for to make things just a bit easier.
THINGS I'M PERFECTLY FINE WASTING MY MONEY ON:
1. Housecleaning...yes, I pay for my house to be cleaned every other week. The best decision I ever made.
2. Lawn mowing...honestly, did anyone think I would ever mow my own yard??
3. I buy several things at the grocery store that make my life easier, and I have no problem paying a bit more for them:
- pre-made PBJ sandwiches, on wheat bread cause it makes me think it's healthier (breakfast for Jack, and no prep time needed)
- grilled cheese sandwiches (take 'em out of the freezer, pop in the toaster...voila, lunch)
- grapes that are already pulled off the bunch and portioned (throw them in the lunch box...and I feel good that I've given Jack a "healthy" option in his lunch)
- juice boxes (Jack can get them from the fridge and open them himself!!)
- individual packages of chips (again, throw them in the lunch box and we're ready to go)
5. Speaking of Christmas cards...this year, I didn't lick every one of those envelopes. I paid $1.99 at Walgreens and put stickers on the back of the cards (well, Jack did)...good thinking I would say!
6. I have started buying some groceries from Schwans. Did you know that you can order online and they'll deliver to your door?? And even leave it in a cool freezer bag if you're not home??? SUPER COOL!
7. I have decided that there is no need to go to the post office and stand in a mile long line just to mail a package. I have started going to the UPS store and letting them pack it for me...and I have yet to wait in any lines there! I pay a few dollars more for the convenience. And I don't mind at all.
8. I've started doing as much as I can at a drive thru...too hard to get kids in and out of the car!
Right now, I'm really wishing I could pay someone to wrap my Christmas presents. I can't do it when the kids are up, and by the time they're in bed, well, I'm just too tired!! I would pay top dollar if someone would like to wrap them for me! I haven't checked the going rate on personal gift wrappers...but I bet it would be a great job for some one who needed the extra moolah!
So, I'll be taking applications. Little to no experience required. Will not discriminate because of race, or religion, however, Christmas wrapping preferred (not holiday wrapping). Timely work appreciated.
And, while this is strictly a seasonal job, if they are reliable and trustworthy, I will consider hiring them on a regular basis to pay my bills. THORN IN MY SIDE!!
