Blizzard '09

The weather blew in late Wednesday night/Thursday morning.  The weather men were predicting 2"-5" then maybe 5"-7", then they said it could be 10".  Of course, living in Oklahoma, we were all a little unsure of what to expect. You never know where those storms will go and a good inch or so on the map can mean a lot when it comes to snow/ice accumulation.  As it turns out, we got 14.1" of snow in OKC!!  Record setting snow!

SO...we got up on Thursday morning, and it was COOOOLD!  It was kind of raining/sleeting, but mostly the wind was blowing 50+ mph.  And, I had an appointment that I HAD to make.  (okay, okay it was a nail appointment...) but I know all too well what a cancelled appointment or two can do to a self-employed person's pocketbook!  So, since I literally live a block from the salon...and since I knew Kim was already there, I ventured out.  That's how I know just how COOOOLD 50+ mph wind really is.  By the time I was finished with my appointment, the sleet was turning to snow.

We had already decided to stay home and not travel to Altus, so our Christmas Eve was spent watching the Channel 4 David Payne, Mike Morgan, Jonathon Condor (J.C.) and the new girl Emily report about Blizzard '09...fun times. fun times.

Jackson busied himself by playing with all his new toys from Christmas the night before!
Thank goodness for new toys, or we would have been stir-crazy!!

Here's what our backyard and porch looked like throughout the day

At one point we opened the front door, to discover that it had
SNOWED INSIDE the house!  (the storm door hadn't been closed all the way,
and it snowed between the doors).  Jackson thought that was so cool!
But, then, he felt of the snow and was so dismayed that it was COLD.
After that, I couldn't get him to go outside to play in it!  Bummer!!

A little later, I went to the garage for something, and realized
that it was also snowing INSIDE the garage!

Crazy snow! Crazy wind! Crazy day! Crazy Christmas Eve!
