We were driving home from dinner tonight, in Grandma's car, when Jackson needed some help in fixing the DVD player. After I reached back and fixed whatever was wrong, Jackson had this to say:
Awww, thanks Mom! You're my best super-hero!
If you don't know a five-year-old boy, that right there, folks, is pretty much the highest compliment that he could ever pay!!

Jackson-ism
Here's the background for the story:
The smoke detector in Katie's room was beeping this evening, so I got out my handy-dandy step stool to change the battery. Unfortunately, the "quick connector" that was supposed to "pop off" and reveal the battery door was NOT quickly popping off...So I put out a desperate plea on Facebook and one of my friends and her husband came to our rescue.
After Joe dutifully fixed the smoke detector, they were sitting in the living roomchatting being entertained by Jackson. During the conversation, Cindy was sharing with Jackson that Richard, her son, (who is also an OSU Cowboy fan) was in lawnmower racing competitions, but his lawnmower kept tipping over and earning him the nickname "flipper". She also had the following to say about his lawnmower after a few tip-overs:
Cindy: You know, Jackson, after Richard's lawnmower tipped over a few times, they put some letters on the front of it, kind of giving the lawnmower a name...
Jackson: What were the letters?
Cindy: Well, on one side it said OU...
Jackson: I LIKE OU!!!
Cindy: Oh, good, Richard doesn't like OU...
So, on the one side it has on OU...on the other side it said CH. So, if you put those letters together O-U-C-H they spell...
Jackson: OSU!!!!!
Oh my goodness...we LAUGHED SO HARD!!! Priceless, and couldn't be more proud! :-)

Sew Proud!!!
Got another hankerin' to sew again tonight!! I've been to 2 sewing classes and am almost finished with the skirt I learned to make in the class.
Tonight, though, I really wanted to make something else! I found more fabric from my original sewing attempts (circa 2004). Found this cute purple fabric that would like nice as a summer skirt.
So, I set out online and found a blog that had instructions for a cute skirt...find it here
Then, after I put the kiddos to bed...out came the sewing machine! Little to no help needed from my mom, just a little affirmation and 'atta-girl...
The finished product, just two hours later:

Jackson-ism
We're driving in the car today and Jackson says to me "Mommy, what is a 10 and a 3?"
Mommy: One-Hundred-Three??
Jackson: No, Mommy, and 10 and a 3!!
Mommy: Three-Hundred-Ten?? (thinking maybe he was reading it backward or something)
Jackson: NO!! It's (under his breath) ten-eleven-twelve-thirteen...THIRTEEN!!!
So, I'm thinking to myself, are you kidding me?? Is he adding those numbers? Has he figured out tens-place and ones-place? oh, my!!
So, I asked him: Jackson, so what would a 10 and a 5 be?
He thinks for a second (and counts under his breath again) and says: FIFTEEN!!
I keep telling you folks...this kid is SMART. CRAZY, SCARY SMART!!!
